PARAMUS -- Republicans officially took over Bergen County government Saturday, swearing in three new GOP freeholders at a reorganization ceremony filled with promises of change and a new era of accountability.

"Today starts the beginning of Bergen County government correcting things that have gone on," said County Executive Kathleen A. Donovan, a Republican, who was herself sworn in at a midnight ceremony. "It's a day of blessings for many of us here, and a day that we pledge to you anew: Watch what we do in the next 365 days."
