Summary
My task today is to write a Black Friday column about things road warriors should be thankful for -- the one time of year that we focus on something positive to counter all the complaints about potholes, crumbling bridges, slow-moving bureaucrats and speedy drivers whose judgment often resembles that of undernourished orangutans.
It's usually an easy job. After all, a big bridge gets fixed. Or rail parking lots are expanded. Or federal money saves a long- delayed project. Or a new law promises safety.
