Thousands of lesbians and gays in Asbury Park marched, rallied, and celebrated Sunday in the state's annual Gay Pride Parade, undeterred by the chilly mist and threat of rain.

Though the parade's official theme this year was "Be Proud, Act Proud, and Vote Proud," the focus was on the fight for gay marriage rights. One of the largest floats was pulled by the Gay Activist Alliance of Morris County, emblazoned with the words "Marriage Equality is a Civil Right," with two brides embracing, as well as two grooms.
