San Francisco (5-9) at St. Louis (6-8), 1 o'clock: Yes, both teams still are alive in the woeful NFC West, with the Rams tied with Seattle for first place. The Seahawks and Rams will play next week. San Francisco has had the upper hand in this series lately, winning five straight and nine of the last 11 meetings. St. Louis' offense has struggled recently, as the Rams have managed only one TD in each of their last three games and have scored more than 20 points only twice all season. St. Louis' Sam Bradford became the third rookie QB in NFL history to pass for 3,000 yards, but has no TD passes and five interceptions in the last three games. San Francisco is switching from Alex Smith to Troy Smith at QB in an attempt to jump-start an offense that was almost non-existent in a 34-7 loss to San Diego on Dec. 16. St. Louis RB Steven Jackson has four 100-yard rushing games against the 49ers.
Washington (5-9) at Jacksonville (8-6), 1 o'clock: Washington has lost four straight games and is mired in controversy with the benching of veteran QB Donovan McNabb. His replacement, Rex Grossman, threw for 322 yards and four touchdowns at Dallas last week and was 3-0 in college playing in Jacksonville, where Florida and Georgia meet annually. A Jaguars loss would put the Jets in the playoffs, even if the Jets lose at Chicago. Jacksonville has won five of its last seven games, but will need help to reach the playoffs after a loss to Indianapolis last week created a tie between those teams atop the AFC South. And the Jaguars likely will have to win this one without RB Maurice Jones-Drew, who is not expected to play because of a sore right knee. Former Jet Santana Moss had three touchdown catches, including the game-winner, in Washington's overtime victory in the teams' last meeting in 2006.See the full content of this document
