Fort Lee Budget Grows by 5.7%

WHAT'S NEW: The Fort Lee Borough Council unanimously approved a $63.5 million budget last week, a 5.7 percent increase over the previous year's $59.9 million budget. The budget includes a tax levy of $53.6 million, 9.5 percent over last year's $49 million levy.

What it means: The owner of a home assessed at $465,000, the borough's average, will pay a municipal tax bill of $4,129, a $331 increase over 2007. The municipal tax rate increases to 88.8 cents from 81.7 cents on each $100 of assessed value.
