AFTER FINALLY passing a debt-ceiling agreement, members of Congress went home. They left behind unfinished business. And that leaves thousands of people unemployed.

The Senate failed to extend funding to the Federal Aviation Administration. The result is that 70,000 construction workers and nearly 4,000 FAA employees -- including more than 600 in New Jersey - - are looking at summer-long layoffs. Everyone else is a victim, too, because the federal government will not be able to collect $1 billion in airline ticket taxes, money that goes to funding the FAA.
