Passaic Valley Sewerage Commissioners Frank J. Calandriello and Angelina M. Paserchia knuckled under to pressure from Governor Christie and resigned from office on Thursday.

Calandriello, the Republican mayor of Garfield, sent a letter to Christie saying that he had "maintained the highest ethical standards" during his 14 years on the PVSC and deserved to remain on board. But Calandriello said he understood the governor's desire for reform and would not stand in the way.
