SADDLE BROOK -- Lorena Alvarez wasn't on the field last season when Saddle Brook and Wood-Ridge played for the North 1, Group 1 title. It didn't take the freshman long to announce her presence Thursday.
Alvarez belted a home run in the first inning and added a run- scoring double in the third to help the Falcons, ranked No. 15 in the North Jersey softball Top 25, defeat the No. 16 Blue Devils, 5- 1, and get some measure of redemption for losing that sectional- title game.
