Hill's Essays Work Wonders ; Capture Essence of Outdoors

Summary


One of my favorite writers is the late Gene Hill, whose outdoor columns - more like essays, really - ran for years in Sports Afield and Field & Stream magazines.

Hill, who lived in Pennington, had a marvelous gift for capturing the essence of our sports. His writing not only influenced my desire to do an outdoor column, but shaped a lot of the romantic notions I have about hunting and fishing and the people who engage in these pastimes.
