Summary


HACKENSACK -- An inmate who walked out of a Maryland jail by assuming another man's identity held police at bay for nearly four hours on Thursday, barricading himself inside an apartment and firing as many as 10 shots through the door before negotiators persuaded him to surrender.

No one was hit, there were no injuries, and residents who were evacuated from the Polifly Arms apartment building at 174 Polifly Road were allowed to return on Thursday night.
