Emerson Proposes Tax Hike of $78

Summary


EMERSON -- The borough's introduced budget would result in a $78 increase in municipal taxes to the owner of a home assessed at the borough average, the lowest increase since 2008, officials said.

The $10.9 million spending plan, introduced by a 6-0 vote last week, includes $8.58 million to be raised in local taxes to support the budget. The tax levy is 2.56 percent higher than last year's levy, which with exceptions would be within the state limit. The budget total is 1 percent higher than last year's.
