State Attorney General Peter Harvey's office was beset by further ethics allegations and political fallout Friday, but Governor McGreevey's aides and other Democrats continued to defend him.

A state ethics panel this month is expected to review a complaint filed by a retiring deputy attorney general against Harvey's chief of staff, Mariellen Dugan. The deputy, Stephen Resnick, claims Dugan inappropriately interfered in a state settlement involving disputed legal fees sought by a prominent defense attorney, Michael Critchley. Critchley was being represented by lawyer Kevin Marino, a Harvey friend whose firm previously employed Dugan.
