Elite University's Graduates Take Time to Renew Old Ties

Four hundred Japanese expatriates, many from North Jersey, convened in New York last week for Keio Mita-kai, the annual reunion of alumni of Keio University in Japan.

"This was my first time to attend Mita-kai," said Naoko Ishigami of Closter, Class of 1967. Ishigami is a longtime member of the Keio women's alumni association, which meets twice a year. This year, however, with the event taking place at Megu, a recently opened Japanese restaurant in Tribeca, Ishigami decided it was time to join the full alumni group.
