PATERSON - Thirteen people were seeking new homes Friday after a three-hour fight against a fire on a dangerously frigid morning left their frame house partially collapsed and covered in ice.

Firefighters from 10 companies endured single-digit temperatures and slippery surfaces as they battled the three-alarm blaze at 142 N. 7th St. Eight adults and five children sought assistance from the Red Cross, fire officials said. No one was injured.
