EDGEWATER - A fire that began in the engine hatch quickly engulfed a 34-foot twin-engine fishing boat, turning the vessel into a floating inferno on the Hudson River early Saturday.

"Once I saw the cabin up on top ... go up in flames, I said, 'That's it, I'm getting off this damn thing before I wind up getting killed,'-" Ronald Carrino said from the safety of his North Bergen home.
