Dep Gets Majority of Records Requests ; Paperwork Under Law Called 'Overwhelming'

TRENTON Every state agency subject to the Open Public Records Act has seen an annual increase in requests for government documents since the law went into effect almost five years ago. But the majority of the requests still all go to one place: the Department of Environmental Protection.

About 56,000 requests have been made to the DEP since July of 2002, making up 65 percent of all government requests, Gannett New Jersey reported in Wednesday newspapers.
