A Democratic bill designed to inject money into New Jersey's deficit-ridden unemployment insurance fund has drawn fire from Governor Christie, and business groups say the legislation does too little to protect employers from a sizable future tax increase.
The bill, introduced last week by Sen. Fred Madden, D- Gloucester, aims to reduce the tax hike needed to make up a $1.6 billion shortfall in the fund, from which jobless benefits are paid.
