PATERSON -- The state has once again extended the city's budget adoption deadline in the hope of avoiding a takeover by closing an $8 million shortfall.
In a letter Friday to the mayor and council, the state Department of Community Affairs said that, because of "continued cooperation" with city officials, it would not seize control of Paterson's government if a balanced budget was introduced for a public hearing by March 15 and passed by March 28.See the full content of this document
