Dava Pharmaceuticals Inc. has agreed to buy the U.S. subsidiary of German drug maker Stada Arzneimittel AG for $40 million.

Dava, a privately held pharmaceutical company based in Fort Lee, sells the painkiller oxycodone, the asthma medication VoSpire ER and the antibacterial drug Clarithromycin. The purchase of the Stada subsidiary, Cranbury-based Stada Inc., will add fifteen generic drugs to Dava's product line.
