PASSAIC -- Kids hanging out on city streets at night could be subject to a police stop under a new curfew ordinance adopted by the City Council that aims to keep more juveniles out of trouble.

The new law extends the current curfew law -- which applies to those age 16 and younger -- to 17 year olds, according to the ordinance adopted unanimously by the council in late November. Anyone 18 and older is exempt, officials said.
