CLIFTON - Joseph Cupoli and Ernie Berthold do not consider themselves activists; they consider themselves parents.

But being a parent sometimes means getting involved and taking a stand.Cupoli and Berthold are the co-founders of Kids First- Clifton, NJ, a political action committee supporting a planned 1,150- student expansion of a yet-to-be-built school at 290 Brighton Road. On Jan. 24, voters will be asked to approve the $49 million project, which would create a 1,650-student school and relieve crowding in the district's high school and two middle schools.
