Crack Sentencing Eases Up ; 136 N.J. Inmates May Benefit

New federal guidelines that went into effect Monday could lead to shorter sentences for up to 136 New Jersey inmates convicted federally on crack cocaine charges.

Four Garden State inmates would be eligible for immediate release under the new guidelines, according the U.S. Sentencing Commission. A dozen more would be eligible within a year, an additional 22 within two years.
