A train conductor may have ignored her duty to monitor the rear of a commuter train when a passenger was dragged to his death in Monmouth County this week, NJ Transit officials announced Wednesday.

At least one crew member, positioned at the rear door of the train's last car, is required to observe the platform as a train leaves a station, said Dan Stessel, an NJ Transit spokesman.
