Colonial golfers think pink

We've grown accustomed to the sight of major league baseball players using pink bats and wearing pink wristbands on Mother's Day. Just recently, golfers, announcers and spectators dipped the Colonial golf tournament in pink with their pink-splashed attire.

The reason for these sports "Pink Outs" is to raise awareness of breast cancer. The professional sports community should be lauded for the effort, but at the same time, should know how much can be done. For that reason, a huge debt of appreciation is sent to Amy Mickelson, the wife of golfer Phil Mickelson. By going public with her recent breast cancer diagnosis, Amy brings the spotlight on a disease that is much more than a women's health issue.
