CLIFTON -- When Clifton's football players say pregame prayers Thursday morning in their locker room at Clifton Stadium, Alex Tirado will express how thankful he is, even for the relatively small amount of time he got to spend with his father.

The late Alberto Tirado made a lasting impression on his youngest son, who was in kindergarten when the heroic Passaic firefighter died while trying to save children in a burning building on Market Street 10 1/2 years ago.
