A Clifton woman pleaded guilty to stealing thousands of dollars by filing more than 1,000 fraudulent New Jersey tax returns.

Rosa M. Castro, 48, of Hillman Street is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 20 by Superior Court Judge Randolph Subryan in Paterson for theft by deception and filing false tax returns. She faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $150,000. She also must return the more than $100,000 she pocketed in stolen refunds.
