NORWALK, Conn. - City officials are considering denying a permit for the Boy Scouts to use a beach for a recruitment drive, citing the organization's policy of barring gays.
Mayor Alex Knopp has asked the law department to research whether there is legal precedent to deny a Boy Scout troop use of Shady Beach. His request came after members of the Common Council's parks committee told Scoutmaster Greta DeAngelis last week they would vote against issuing her a permit for a campfire and recruitment program Oct. 24.See the full content of this document
