Chris Higgins and Alex Kovalev each had two goals, and the Montreal Canadiens avoided a season sweep by the Penguins with a 6- 5 win Sunday night at Pittsburgh.

Montreal, which was 0-3 against the NHL's worst team, has won three in a row and 4-of-5 to move into a seventh-place tie with the Devils in the Eastern Conference standings. Saku Koivu recorded three assists.
