Campbell Raises Outlook After 31% Jump in Profits

CAMDEN Campbell Soup Co., the world's largest soup maker, said Monday that fiscal third-quarter profit rose 31 percent, helped by higher beverage sales and one-time benefits. The results exceeded Wall Street forecasts and the company raised its outlook for the rest of the year.

Net income for the quarter ended April 29 totaled $217 million, or 55 cents per share, up from $166 million, or 40 cents, a year earlier. Revenue grew 8 percent, to $1.87 billion.
