Catherine Choi says there's absolutely no pun intended when she predicts that 2012 will be her company's time to shine.

Choi is president of Bulbrite, the Moonachie-based lighting manufacturing and supply company founded by her father 40 years ago. Jan. 1 is when federal regulations requiring light bulbs to be more energy efficient take effect. Choi sees the new directives as an opportunity to educate consumers and the lighting stores that sell Bulbrite bulbs about the company's products and to spotlight Bulbrite's innovation and technology advances. Bulbrite sells an energy-efficient halogen bulb with the same shape and light quality as traditional incandescent bulbs.

In her 10 years at the company helm, Choi has led the development of programs to educate consumers about new kinds of lighting and energy efficiency, including the creation of the informational website, www.lightopedia.com.
