Every day, two dozen students from Bloomingdale board buses to 18 destinations some more than an hour away.

As in other towns on the Morris-Passaic County border, Bloomingdale's special education students are spending more time en route to Bergen County and beyond, and the district is spending more money to send them there. The reason, some administrators say, is that local programs can't keep up with the growing need.
