TRENTON - New Jersey's top energy regulator said Tuesday that recommendations from a U.S.-Canadian task force responding to the nation's worst blackout should be imposed on Garden State power companies.

Board of Public Utilities President Jeanne M. Fox said some of the recommendations could have helped prevent a July 5 blackout that affected more than 40,000 shore area customers. She is calling for hearings on the recommendations to start within the month.
