Summary


Fair Lawn isn't exactly around the corner from Mars, Vulcan or Darth Vader's Death Star, but that didn't stop author Michael Reisman from incorporating a thinly disguised version of his hometown into his science fiction novel (and soon-to-be movie) "Simon Bloom, the Gravity Keeper" (Dutton Juvenile, $15.99).

"I call it Lawnville," says Reisman, a former Record delivery boy who now lives in Los Angeles and turns 36 this year. "And I didn't stop there. I grew up on John Street, and my character lives on Jerome Street. After school I used to go with my friends to Ness pizzeria. For the book, I changed it to Nezzo."
