WEST MILFORD - A family of animal lovers lost their home and a dog in a fire that erupted while they were away at a softball game, authorities said Wednes-day.

Investigators say a short circuit in fish tank equipment may have sparked the flames while the Claudio family was out Tuesday evening. Firefighters arrived at 438 Morsetown Road about 8:20 p.m. By then, the living room had ignited and the fire had blown out many of the windows in the two-story house.
