Bankruptcy Filings Drop After Change

Summary


Bankruptcy filings fell sharply across New Jersey and the United States in fiscal 2006, reflecting a change in the law that made the process more difficult for individuals.

Figures released Tuesday by the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts show that filings fell by 39.3 percent in New Jersey and 37.6 percent nationally in the year ended Sept. 30.
