At least two private companies decided not to bid on a contract to provide toll attendant services on the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway because they were intimidated by the turnpike toll collectors union, attorneys for the Turnpike Authority argued in U.S. District Court on Wednesday.
The union members organized multiple rallies at Turnpike Authority board meetings and picketed during a Feb. 7 event in which prospective bidders met with Turnpike Authority officials to discuss privatizing its toll collection operations, attorneys Thomas Scrivo and John Peirano told Judge Jose Linares.See the full content of this document
