New Jersey's failing child welfare system will avoid a federal takeover - at least in the next four months - after lawyers for a national child advocacy group and state officials agreed to resolve their differences outside of the courtroom.
The agreement between Children's Rights Inc. and the Department of Human Services, announced Wednesday, comes just one week into the Corzine administration, a signal to some that the new governor is keeping a campaign promise to get child welfare reforms back on track.See the full content of this document
