Guarding N.J. Shore by Land, Sea and Air ; Pollution Patrol

Federal workers are hovering in helicopters and hanging off the back of boats this summer to keep pollution from fouling the waters and beaches at the Jersey Shore. The Environmental Protection Agency, along with other federal, state and local partners, is spending the summer in the sky scanning the waters for slicks and floating debris.

Going South Can Be Culture Shock ; Rowan, Stockton Offer a Change of Scenery

Increasing numbers of students from North Jersey are discovering the state's two southernmost public colleges. Richard Stockton College in Pomona and Rowan University in Glassboro are attracting some of the state's better students. Both are selective and have programs that draw students from across the state such as Rowan's engineering school and Stockton's coastal and marine sciences programs.

Faa Tracking Crash of Teterboro Flight

A single-engine plane that left Teterboro Airport on Sunday morning crashed in Virginia after the pilot reported an equipment problem, killing the two people onboard, officials said. The Pilatus PC-12 turboprop, registered to Nicholas, Elliott & Jordan LLC in Tampa, Fla., took off for Tampa at 7:30 a.m., said Jim Peters, a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman.
