Fairway Crosses the Hudson ; Good Marks for Price, Selection, but Layout? So-So

PARAMUS -- For years, friends and colleagues living on Manhattan's Upper West Side have extolled the virtues of Fairway Market, saying it was unlike anything we had in North Jersey. As a result, I was eagerly awaiting Wednesday's grand opening in Paramus, the iconic chain's first store west of the Hudson. After visiting the store, I, too, can say it is unique, unlike anything else I've seen in North Jersey.

A Double Liability Can Be Avoided

Q. In 2005, I received six weeks of unemployment checks from the State of New Jersey. However, I misplaced one of the checks and never cashed it. In 2008 I found the check, but it was void after 90 days. I returned it to the state, which then reissued a check, which I cashed in 2008. I recently received a Form 1099-G from New Jersey for the tax year 2008, showing that I had unemployment compensation in 2008 for the reissued check. Continental Begins Non-Stop Service From Newark ; Flying to Shanghai Just Became Easier

Florey Ye, vice president of JK Sucralose Inc., an Edison-based maker of sweeteners, flies three or four times a year to Shanghai on business. In the past, he would fly on Continental Airlines from Newark Liberty International Airport to Beijing and grab a connecting flight to Shanghai. Or else United Airlines would fly him from Newark to its Chicago hub, where he'd catch a direct flight to Shanghai.
