A common mistake made by amateurs is the way they play overcards after the flop when the flop misses completely. Overcards are hole cards that are of higher rank than any card on the board. In deep stack no-limit hold 'em tournaments, players start with a lot of chips. In these tournaments, the most important decisions are the ones made after the flop. That's not the case in tournaments where the average stack is shallow. In these tourneys, pre-flop decisions are essentially all you have. It'...

The three-day Reebok All-American Basketball Camp, which includes Fuquan Edwin and Shaquille Thomas of Paterson Catholic, began Tuesday at Philadelphia University. But this event used to have much more of a North Jersey flavor than merely a couple of area players. That's because it used to be held here. Before the camp migrated south last year after sneaker legend Sonny Vaccaro left the business, this event took place every summer at Fairleigh Dickinson University's Rothman Center.
Hair and there If Jason Giambi participates in Monday's home run derby, he might call on the batting practice pitcher who helped him win the 2002 event in Milwaukee Willie Randolph. NEW YORK - Is there something brewing in New York? The Mets lost another player to injury Tuesday, but that didn't stop them from winning another game, 7-0 over the Giants. The Mets are one game behind in the loss column to the first-place Phillies, who lost to St. Louis on Tuesday.
Old Yank Magic Shuts Out Rays ; Pettitte, Jeter Lead Way Past Al East's Best
NEW YORK Not since Tampa Bay's entry into the league had a Rays- Yankees' game held such meaning. The Rays arrived at Yankee Stadium in first place in the AL East, and their starter Scott Kazmir opened Tuesday night by striking out five of the first six Yankees he faced.
NEW YORK - For one crazy, counterintuitive moment, you could've almost believed Derek Jeter was a young shortstop again, with life in his legs and enough juice in his arm to make us remember what a weapon his spin move used to be. There he was in the seventh inning against the Rays, veering far to his right to grab Willy Aybar's ground ball. And there it was - straight out of the 1998 playbook. Jeter planted his right foot, leapt and delivered a long, perfect strike to Robinson Cano at second...
NEW YORK Don Zimmer has seen this before. Then again, what hasn't Zimmer seen in 60 seasons of professional baseball? Now in his fifth season as the senior baseball adviser for the Tampa Bay Rays, even Zimmer admits to being surprised by how well the club has done thus far. The Rays arrived at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday for a two-game series as the surprise leaders in the American League East. Tampa Bay still has the best record in baseball at 55-34, good for a 7-game lead over the Yankees af...
