Allman Assisted by Friends, His Son

Gone is the golden hue of his patented flowing locks. Nevertheless, Gregg Allman is the same "Ramblin' Man" he was more than 30 years ago when he first brought Southern-styled blues/ jam- rock to the forefront of FM playlists. As in his heyday, however, Allman doesn't do it all on his lonesome these days not even when he's supposedly playing on his own.

'Black Parade' Is Basis for Tour

My Chemical Romance will kick off a North American arena tour Feb. 22 in Manchester, N.H., in support of its new reprise album, "The Black Parade." The trek will feature support from Rise Against and Muse. "We're going to retain the essence of a rock show," frontman Gerard Way told Billboard.com.

Packed with Punky Pop

Tralala, "Is That the Tralala" (Audika) *** Named after the prostitute antiheroine in Hubert Selby's "Last Exit to Brooklyn" and the sound that girl groups made in sugary '60s sing-alongs, Tralala is a New York seven-piece band in which the boys provide the instrumental backing, and the girls Nicole Lang, Erin Marsz, Liane Moccia and Stella Psaroudakis stand together on the vocal front line. They're one variation in a cheerleader-rock trend that includes the Go! Team, Pipettes and Shalitas....

Great Night for Humor ; New Year's Eve Crowd Is His Friend

WHO: Jamie Lissow, Richie Byrne, Brian Patrick and Ray Solimeno. WHAT: Comedy.

Squeaky Clean and Hilarious

Good comedy is a refreshing thing, and in this day and age, good clean comedy is even more so. Richie Byrne is one of the few who can perform stand-up without obscenities and still have the audience laughing, and his all-ages sense of humor is coming to Bananas Comedy Club in Hasbrouck Heights.

Upscale Lanes to Open ; Palisades Center Adds Bowling Alley

What could you possibly need in a mall that already has 2 million square feet of retail space, more than 200 stores, a dozen-plus restaurants, an ice skating rink and a Ferris wheel? If you answered, "an upscale bowling alley that enforces a dress code," you're absolutely correct. Lucky Strike Lanes will open Sunday in West Nyack, N.Y.'s Palisades Center.

Eating Out On $50: Franco's Metro in Fort Lee

This is one of those delicious places that pushes the idea of holding to $50 for dinner for four to its limit. It can be done, but the fare at Franco's Metro turns out to be so good so seductive that we vowed to return when we weren't constrained by a monetary limit. Owners Franco and Antonietta Bazzarelli started Franco's 35 years ago as a pizza place Main Pizza on Main Street in Fort Lee and developed it into a full-menu Italian restaurant. It's in the Plaza West Shopping Center on Ber...

He's On the Ball ; Ex-Athlete Sinbad Slam Dunks Stories

David Adkins wasn't in a laughing mood when a knee injury ended the brief basketball career of the University of Denver's star player. "I really thought basketball was my ticket to the big time," the 6-foot-5 former power forward said. A potential All-America, he was so sure he was headed to the NBA he had "Baby Wilt" written on the door of his car. His red hair earned him the nickname "Red Chamberlain."

Food & Drink: The Metropolitan at Borgata

When it opened more than three years ago, Borgata did more than simply raise the bar of the gaming experience. It also redefined dining in a casino.

Self-Stigmatizing Over Psych Meds

Carolyn Hax is away. The following is adapted from winter 2005 live discussions on washingtonpost.com. Q. After a few years of back and forth with psych meds (took them, decided I was better and weaned myself off, repeat), my doctor and, to some extent, I, have come to the conclusion that I'll have to be on them for a long time, if not forever. I'm having a tough time coming to terms with that idea. Any thoughts on how to make sense of it without the stigma?

Nasty Nanny has Created Turmoil

DEAR ABBY: My husband, "Lewis," and I recently hired a live-in nanny who moved six states away to work for us. She is great with the kids, polite and receptive to me but when it comes to my husband, "Celeste" can barely bring herself to be civil. Lewis and I were both committed to making this a rewarding experience for Celeste. He even invited her to play darts with him in his dart league. Celeste has become close with many of his friends and makes disrespectful "humorous" comments about him.

Infrequent Guide to the Frequencies

It's my last column for the year, and in what has become a New Year's tradition, I offer an updated radio frequency guide. Unfortunately, we are unable to publish a chart on a regular basis. Therefore I'm presenting a chart today.
