Google to Pay Yahoo $300m in Stock
SAN FRANCISCO - Online search engine leader Google Inc. will surrender more than $300 million of its stock to Yahoo! Inc. in a settlement that removes a legal threat hanging over its IPO at the expense of enriching a nettlesome rival. Oil Prices Climb On Supply Fears
WASHINGTON - Oil prices marched to new highs just shy of $45 a barrel Monday after an Iraqi oil official said output was stopped for security reasons at key southern oil fields. Analysts feared that the market could lose more than 1.5 million barrels a day by the end of the week. Buying was also fueled by the renewed threat of a supply disruption in Russia, analysts said, as the embattled oil giant Yukos was dealt more bad news.

OAKLAND - The struggling Russ Berrie and Co. hopes Spider-Man and other superheroes can come to its rescue. The gift and stuffed-toy company announced Monday that it had lost $15.6 million, or 75 cents a share, on sales of $53.4 million in the second quarter of 2004. That compares with a profit of $4.2 million, or 20 cents a share, on sales of $67.2 million for the second quarter of 2003.
Citigroup Buying Knight's Derivatives Branch ; Bank Seeking Wider Role in Electronic Trading
NEW YORK - Citigroup Inc., the world's biggest bank, has agreed to buy Knight Trading Group Inc.'s derivatives unit for $225 million to offer its clients more electronic trading services. Knight Trading, based in Jersey City, is the main market maker at the Chicago Board Options Exchange for options on 180 companies, including ETrade Financial Corp. and Eli Lilly & Co.

ALBANY, N.Y. - Two insurance companies will pay $20 million in a settlement that ends an investigation into charges that the companies allowed improper trading of annuities, law enforcement officials announced Monday.
